now may be supported by the new slmodem-2.9.1 release.
The have been queries about support under this AC'97 Controller
Your previously unsupported modem may now be supported if there is an
output from the query:        
$ lspci -nv | grep 8086:24c6
The following queries also represent potential new support by
slmodem-2.9.1 :
$ lspci -nv | grep 10de:01c1 
$ lspci -nv | grep 10a5:3052 
$ lspci -nv | grep 1131:3400

Hello,

I'm happy to announce that we are started new 'slmodem' release branch
2.9. First version 'slmodem-2.9.1' is available at
ftp://ftp.smlink.com/linux/unsupported .

It implements 'universal bug' feature (as 2.7.10) - significant progress
was happened here. Hope it will be useful.

'Already done' things are:

- main modem unit is user space application (Bernd! This was great idea)
- support for 2.6 kernel
- may work with any physically supported hardware

Things are planned for 2.9 release:

- GPL hardware drivers (kernel modules)

Previous development release line 2.8 is suspended.

Many many thanks for supports and original ideas.

Any kind of new helps and supports with driver 'GPL-ing' will be
appreciated.
