I'm new to this list, been at linux awhile.. not a programmer or anything
tho.  I came across this site enabling winmodems in dos.. thought maybe this
would help.

ViP is the only way you can add DOS support to a Winmodem or other
Windows-only communication device under Win 95/98.
TurboCom ViP is patented software which is incorporated into many
Winmodem-type devices. And now it's available in a demo version.

Operating system - Windows 98, and Slackware 2.0.35 running on UMSDOS
File System - 13.5 GB Fat32
